“Hishio” is one of the regional goodies of Obama City, Fukui Prefecture. Wakasa-Obama, known as a window to the continental culture, is blessed with an abundance of seafood and well known for the excellent producer of Hama-Jyo-Yu (fish sauce) for a long time.
This sauce is made from the meat of fresh small sea bream, which are caught in the Japanese coastal waters, and the fish is ripened with salt and fresh water for a half year. This unique ripening technique is also used for making “Kodai-Sasa-Zuke”, which is known as a specialty of Fukui Prefecture.We guarantee that you will enjoy the “freshly-squeezed” taste and flavor of sea bream.
We call this sauce universal because it is great with everything; nabe (one-pot dish cooked at the table), ni-mono (a simmered dish), da-shi (soup), tsu-yu (sauce)… you name it.
Don’t add extra salt, and dilute before adding to your recipe.
This product does not smell “fishy” so everybody can enjoy it.
